The Importance of English to me

Language owe its origin from imitation and modification, with the help of signs, gestures and various other sounds from nature. It was created with meaning behind it, which is the reason why we use language as a form of communication. As for me, English is a common language used to communicate in our day to day activities to our friends and colleague in future.

Nowadays words can be used in various forms to form different meanings, hence it is critical to know and use the correct form to avoid miscommunication between myself and to whom it may concern. Language can be written differently for example, informally towards a friend or in a formal way towards a superior or an acquaintance from other organization.

As a student, there are some examples of English language writing which will be done in university, to name a few, job application emails, thesis statement and how to avoid plagiarism so on and so forth. These are some examples which I need to be equipped with when I start working in future so that I can put my thoughts into writing correctly.

It is vital that these skills are honed for use in my future career, as it will benefit me in future to work efficiently and effectively to avoid miscommunications and slow down work processes. As well as not being able to share my perspective with others or understand through their point of view will be at my disadvantage.

English to me is the reason how friendships are forged, how dreams and ideas are shared and last but not least how we reminisce with our old friends.

  1. Chris,

The post you have written is very clear and precise of the subject. You have also given a good history of the English subject itself as an opening. It gives me a better understanding of its origin and therefore flows smoothly into how the language is important to you.

However, I find the following sentence rather long with too many given examples. Maybe you can re-construct the sentence with lesser examples? Since you have also mentioned, 'to name a few'.
